Years after leaving the college game, Gary Browne is now getting it done on the international stage as he helped lift Puerto Rico to a group stage win in the FIBA World Cup in China.

The former Mountaineer point guard hails from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico and serves as the starting point guard for the Puerto Rico national basketball team. In his World Cup debut against Tunisia on Wednesday, he chipped in 9 points and 8 assists, but his biggest impact would come as the clock wound down.

For the tournament, Browne averages 10 points per game.

Having played all three of their games in the group stage, Puerto Rico sits in second in their group (behind Spain) and will move on to the tournament’s second round.
