MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 13, 2019) – After sitting at No. 2 for the last 13 weeks, the West Virginia University rifle team is back at No. 1 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Rankings.
This week’s rankings are based on NCAA Team Selection Rankings, which are comprised of a squad’s top-three scores earned at three different venues. The Mountaineers (13-0, 8-0 GARC) claim an average of 4715.67.
TCU (4713) falls to No. 2, while Air Force (4706.67) sits at No. 3. Kentucky (4704.33) ranks No. 4, and Murray State (4699.67) checks-in at No. 5.
Alaska-Fairbanks (4683.33) sits at No. 6 and is followed by Navy (4674.67) at No. 7. Ole Miss (4671.67), Memphis (4670.33) and Jacksonville State (4667.33) round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers shoot an NCAA Qualifying Match on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m., at the Bill McKenzie Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building. Saturday is not a head-to-head competition, but the Mountaineers’ score will factor into the overall standings and qualifying averages for the 2019 NCAA National Championships.
