WVU women’s basketball is picked to finish third in the Big 12 this season according to the league’s preseason poll, which was released Thursday.
The Mountaineers trail only reigning national champion Baylor and Texas in the preseason ranking. The Bears received eight first place votes, while the Longhorns received one.
The Mountaineers also placed redshirt senior guard Tynice Martin on the Big 12’s preseason all-conference team. The league’s preseason awards are determined by Big 12 head coaches.
Martin was suspended indefinitely by the program back in August, and that suspension is still ongoing, according to a source.
WVU women’s basketball begins its regular season Nov. 7 at home against Saint Francis.
