Keith Washington is getting his shot at the pros after being signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent.
The news was originally reported by Ryan Talbot of NYUp.com.
Washington was a key piece to the West Virginia defense in his senior season, grabbing 3 interceptions in opportune times for the Mountaineers. In total, he grabbed 6 in two years at WVU. He was named to the All-Big 12 second team after his final season.
Without an invitation to the NFL Combine and a pro day, Washington had to make do on his own for exposure. He held his own pro day, where he ran an unofficial 4.38-second 40-yard dash (which would have been the fifth-fastest time at the NFL Combine) and an unofficial 3.94-second 20-yard shuttle (which would have been the fastest at the combine).
