The Big 12 Conference has announced that West Virginia women’s basketball will host Tennessee in the annual Big 12/SEC Challenge, which pits squads from each conference against one another.
WVU’s matchup last season was at No. 10 Mississippi State on the road and was one of the marquee victories for the Mountaineers’ year. Their victory was one of eight earned by Big 12 teams.
“The SEC/Big 12 Challenge proved to be a successful event for both conferences since its inception in 2014,” said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “These contests provide high-quality matchups that prepare our teams for the rigors of Big 12 play, while showcasing the excitement of women’s basketball.”
Since the competition was expanded to its current 10-team format, the Mountaineers have earned three wins and a loss, with two of those victories coming against ranked opponents.
