West Virginia catcher Ivan Gonzalez may have finished his career in at WVU, but he has the chance to make a professional one after getting selected 230th overall in the MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

Gonzalez was an integral to West Virginia throughout his time in Morgantown, starting 162 games for the Mountaineers in three seasons. He finished with a career batting average of .289, which includes a 2017 campaign in which he batted .317.

Gonzalez is the second Mountaineer selected in the 2019 MLB Draft, with pitcher Alek Manoah going 11th overall to the Blue Jays.
