One of West Virginia’s most productive bullpen weapons will be heading to the pros. Reliever Sam Kessler, a junior righty, was selected in the 34th round by the Detroit Tigers.

Kessler led the Mountaineers with 8 saves in 2019, striking out 46 batters in the process — the highest tally among relievers. He finished his career in Morgantown with a 2.88 ERA and a 9-5 record.
