West Virginia is sending another Mountaineer onto the next level after lefty pitcher Nick Snyder was selected in the 11th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The junior New Jersey native started 13 games for the Mountaineers, including a complete game against Marshall in which he was a single out from a no-hitter. He completed 2019 with a 9-1 record and a 2.65 ERA, the third-lowest in the Big 12, led only by first-round picks Alek Manoah and Nick Lodolo. He becomes the third Mountaineer taken in the 2019 Draft, with Alek Manoah being selected early in the first round and Ivan Gonzalez being selected in the eighth.
Snyder carved out a regular starting job on Tuesdays for the Mountaineers, facing off against mainly non-conference opponents.
