WVU Basketball

A former Mountaineer men’s basketball player has accepted a coaching position in the NBA.

Joe Mazzulla, the current men’s basketball coach at Fairmont State, will now become an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported this news Sunday evening, and Fairmont State officials confirmed the story with our partners at WBOY

Mazzulla played for Bob Huggins at WVU from 2007-11 and contributed to the Mountaineers’ memorable run to the Final Four during the 2009-10 campaign. That season, Mazzulla also helped West Virginia win its first Big East tournament title.
