The 2018-2019 men’s basketball campaign may have ended just a few weeks ago, but the Mountaineers are already looking forward to their next season.
Although much of their schedule won’t be released for several months, WVU has announced that the Mountaineers will visit St. John’s in the Big 12/Big East Challenge.
The agreement between the two conferences will last four years, through the 2022-2023 season. The games will be played in December, with the Big 12 television rights controlled by ESPN and the Big East’s controlled by FOX Sports.
Besides the Mountaineers and the Red Storm, some of the more notable matchups include Kansas at Villanova, Marquette at Kansas State, Georgetown at Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma at Creighton.
The Mountaineers have played the Red Storm a total of 34 times, and currently lead the series 19-15. The last matchup was a lopsided 78-62 home win for St. John’s in 2012.
