Oscar Tshiebwe is once again earning honors from the Big 12 Conference after his 17-point, 17-rebound performance in the Mountaineers’ loss against Kansas.

The freshman has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for the week of January 6, his third such honor this season. He was previously given the honor on November 18 and December 2.

In addition to his double-double against the Jayhawks, Tshiebwe leads the nation in offensive rebounding percentage and is third in the conference in rebounding.

Tshiebwe is the second straight Mountaineer to be named Newcomer of the Week in the Big 12 after Miles McBride received the honor after his 21-point performance against Ohio State in the Cleveland Classic.
