Josh Growden named as finalist for Ray Guy Award

Josh Growden has been named as a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top punter.

Growden currently owns the fourth-highest punting average in the Big 12 at 41.5 yards per punt, on a squad that allows the fewest punt return yards (0.1 per return) in the conference.

As the season has gone on, he seems to have only gotten better. Last week against Baylor, Growden had a total of 9 punts for 376 yards in a performance which coach Neal Brown called his “best day” so far this season.

Growden also sits atop West Virginia’s stats sheet with a perfect passer rating, completing his one and only pass in a fake punt against Oklahoma:
