Linebacker VanDarius Cowan reportedly facing four-game suspension

WVU Football

Transfer linebacker VanDarius Cowan is facing a suspension for the first game of the season, multiple reports say.

Mike Casazza of 247Sports first reported the suspension on Wednesday, stating that Cowan’s suspension is due to “eligibility issues.” He will miss the James Madison, Missouri, North Carolina State and Kansas matchups to start the season.

Before the news of his suspension, Cowan was expected to start at the bandit position, which is a pass rush specialist in Vic Koenning’s defensive scheme.

Cowan comes to West Virginia by way of Alabama, where he originally recruited as a four-star prospect out of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
