With the open week behind them, the Mountaineers are looking ahead toward their next opponent: No. 11 Texas.
Saturday’s game at Milan Puskar Stadium will pit two 3-1 teams against each other, but West Virginia is a sizable underdog for the game, which will begin at 3:30 ET and air on ABC. On his weekly conference call, head coach Neal Brown said it shouldn’t be hard for players to get motivated for this game.
“We’re playing on national television against one of the top programs in the country,” Brown said. “I don’t think we’ll need a whole lot of motivation ploys this week.”
Brown also provided an update on redshirt sophomore linebacker VanDarius Cowan, who is now eligible to make his first appearance in gold-and-blue after serving a four-game suspension. (He also sat out the entire 2018 season after transferring from Alabama.)
The head coach also explained why he won’t spend much time discussing “Horns Down” with his players this week, saying it’s all “much ado about nothing.”
