Last season’s Oklahoma State football team could be described as the Big 12’s spoiler. After a 3-0 start, their season quickly fell apart with losses to Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas State.
Head Coach Mike Gundy would get his team together towards the end of the season, despite not being in contention for any championships. In the final half of the season, the Cowboys would face three top-ten opponents — no. 6 Texas, no. 6 Oklahoma, and no. 7 West Virginia. They were able to get the victory in two of the last three, with their loss (to OU) coming by just four points.
The Cowboys used these wins to sneak into bowl contention with a 6-6 record, and defeated no. 24 Missouri in the Liberty Bowl.
This momentum, as well as new additions to his program, has Gundy enthusiastic for this upcoming campaign.
“I’m more excited and looking forward to a season than I ever have been before in a long, long time and I just can’t wait to get started,” Gundy said.
