After taking an alternative route to the NFL, former WVU safety Kenny Robinson will get his shot after being selected in the fifth round by the Carolina Panthers.
Robinson was the both the first Mountaineer off the board and the first former XFL player to be selected in this year’s draft. In two years at WVU, Robinson grabbed 7 interceptions before leaving the program and joining the St. Louis Battlehawks. In St. Louis, he added a pair of interceptions and 15 tackles.
Due to his experience already playing professional football, Robinson was described by some experts as “pro-ready,” despite receiving a 5.89 prospect grade from NFL.com.
