Another WVU football defensive back has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

According to multiple reports, rising junior safety Derrek Pitts entered the portal Wednesday.

The West Virginia native has made 19 career appearances for WVU, making two starts. He finished tied for third on the team in 2018 in pass breakups and also recorded an interception.

Pitts becomes the second Mountaineer safety in as many days to enter the transfer portal. WVU teammate Kenny Robinson did the same thing Tuesday.

Should Pitts and Robinson transfer from WVU, the Mountaineers will be without four key safeties from the 2018 season, as both Toyous Avery and Dravon Askew-Henry played their final games in gold-and-blue last year.

Another defensive back, rising senior Jordan Adams, also appears in the transfer portal.

Pitts, a graduate of South Charleston High School, still has two years of eligibility remaining. By entering the transfer portal, he can discuss his future with other programs, while still retaining the option to return to WVU.
