West Virginia defensive back JoVanni Stewart will sit out this weekend’s game with the Texas Longhorns due to personal reasons, a WVU athletics source confirmed Thursday.

The senior safety has appeared in 41 games for the Mountaineers, incluing all four games so far in 2019. He has logged 17 total tackles this year with a season-high 4 solo tackles against NC State.

According to WVU football’s depth chart released on Monday, either Kwantel Raines or Dante Bonamico will start in Stewart’s place at the spear position.
