West Virginia kicker Evan Staley has been named to the Lou Groza Award and the Wuerffel Trophy Watch Lists as announced by their organizations.
Staley is a rising junior at WVU heading into his third season as the Mountaineers’ kicker handling the kickoff, field goal and extra points for the team. In his career, he has made 22 field goals with a percentage of 81.48 percent.
The 28th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award, presented by the Orange Bowl, recognizes the three best placekickers in the nation. Staley joins fellow Big 12 kickers Cameron Dickers (Texas) and Blake Lynch (Kansas State) on the Groza list.
The Wuerffel Trophy, known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service,” is awarded to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
